Martin Hugo Baethge

Martin Hugo Baethge, 83, of Fredericksburg, died Monday, June 1, 2015.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 4, in the chapel of Fredericksburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Alan Williams officiating.

Interment followed in Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation was held Wednesday evening at the funeral chapel.

Baethge was born April 4, 1932, in Harper, the son of Hugo Baethge and Ella Saenger Baethge. He married Mary Jane Sultemeier on Feb. 14, 1954, in Fredericksburg. She preceded him in death.

Baethge served in the United States Army and later worked as a heavy equipment mechanic and welder for City Public Service in San Antonio.

He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Darryl and Cherryl Baethge and DeWayne and Melissa Baethge, all of Seguin; one step-daughter, Jeanine Peckme of Boerne, and one step-son, Steven Kirchoff of Waco.

Survivors also include five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, Baethge was preceded in death by a sister, Adela Sagebiel.

Memorials may be made to Holy Ghost Lutheran Church or to the charity of choice.

Pallbearers included Alan Saenger, Rick Ottmers, Nathan Kott, Daniel Sagebiel, Rob Baethge, Ken Baethge, Desmond Cantu and Tony Cantu.
