
GEORGE ROBERT (BOB) WEDDINGTON
George Robert (Bob) Weddington, 82, of Fredericksburg, died Wednesday, July 8, 2015.
Private burial services are planned at a later date at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.
Weddington was born Dec. 9, 1932, in Antlers, Oklahoma, the son of John and Mildred Weddington. He married Susan Baker on April 1, 1983, in San Antonio, and she survives.
A United States Air Force veteran, Weddington was a microbiologist in the epidemiology department, retiring as a major.
Prior to moving to Fredericksburg, he was a longtime resident of San Antonio, where, upon retirement, he had an accomplished career as laboratory director for Southwest Bioclinical Laboratory.
He was active in amateur radio, with a call sign of K5HXS and was known as Tall Bob.
In addition to his wife, Weddington is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Jay Stewart; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Weddington, and a step-son, Sean Caldwell.
Survivors also include six grandchildren, and a brother, Ben Weddington of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Along with his parents, Weddington was preceded in death by one son, Carl (C.W.) Weddington, and two brothers, John Weddington and Charles Weddington.
Memorials may be made to a cancer research organization, Hill Country Memorial Hospice or to the charity of choice.
