MARVIN R. GROSENBACHER

Marvin R. Grosenbacher, 79, of Center Point and formerly of Fredericksburg, died Saturday, Aug. 29, 2015, at Care Choice Nursing Home of Boerne.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 5, at Schaetter Funeral Home of Fredericksburg, with the Rev. Casey Zesch officiating.

Cremation is planned following the service with interment of the cremains to be held at a later date.

Visitation will be held Friday, Sept. 4, from 5-7 p.m., and Saturday, Sept. 5, from 7 a.m.-2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Grosenbacher was born Nov. 2, 1935, in Fredericksburg, the son of Ernst Grosenbacher Sr. and Ella Kast Grosenbacher. He married Carolyn Haun on Jan. 27, 1963, at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church and she survives.

Grosenbacher was raised in the Crabapple community and graduated from Fredericksburg High School. After graduation, he served in the United States Navy for four years.

Throughout the years, he worked at Kelly Air Force Base, retiring in 1990.

In addition to his wife, Grosenbacher is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Gavin and Kim Grosenbacher of Boerne and Garet and Kenda Grosenbacher of Marion.

Survivors also include six grandchildren, and a sister, Evelyn Lucksinger of Fredericksburg.

Along with his parents, Grosenbacher was preceded in death by one sister, Opal Thorp; and three brothers, Lester Grosenbacher, Orval Grosenbacher and Ernst Grosenbacher.

Memorials may be made to Bethany Lutheran Church, HOPE Foundation or to the charity of choice.

Pallbearers will include Robert Lucksinger, Dempsey Grosenbacher, Paul Heitzman, A.C. Kast, Calvin (Slim) Kuhlmann, Logan Grosenbacher, Caleb Grosenbacher and Jacob Grosenbacher.
