MRS. HUBERT A. MAURER

Mrs. Hubert A. Maurer, 84, nee Selma Bertha Kirchhoff of Fredericksburg and formerly of Harper, died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2016, at Knopp Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Harper with the Rev. Mike Peinemann officiating. Peggy Ernst was the organist and the church choir sang.

Interment followed at St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation and a vigil/rosary service, led by Deacon Curtis Klein, were held Friday evening.

Mrs. Maurer was born Oct. 20, 1931, in Kimble County, the daughter of Alfred Christian Kirchhoff and Anna Pauline Jentsch Kirchhoff. She married Hubert August Maurer on Oct. 29, 1957, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Harper. He preceded her in death on Feb. 2, 2005.

Over the years, she was a member of St. Ann’s Society at St. Anthony Catholic Church.

Mrs. Maurer is survived by a daughter, Barbara Maurer, and a son and daughter-in-law, Felix and Rhonda Maurer, and two grandchildren, all of Fredericksburg.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

Memorials may be made to St. Anthony Catholic Church Building Fund, Harper Volunteer Fire Department and EMS or to the charity of choice.

Pallbearers included Alvin Lange, Elgin Durst, Gene Rahe, George Lange, Hardin Rahe and William Lange.

Honorary pallbearers were Samuel Maurer and Ellie Maurer.
