Mrs. Werner W. Klein, 89, nee Esther Koennecke of Fredericksburg, died Friday, June 12, 2015.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 16, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with interment following at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, Hill Country Memorial Hospital or to the charity of choice.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Gary Dean Boerner

Gary Dean Boerner, 65, of Fredericksburg, died Sunday, June 7, 2015, in a Houston hospital.

Graveside services and interment were held at 11 a.m., Monday, June 15, in the Comfort Cemetery in Comfort.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home of Fredericksburg.

Boerner was born Jan. 8, 1950, in Fredericksburg, the son of Charles Boerner Jr. and Ruth I. Schmidt Boerner.

He is survived by five brothers and two sisters, including Charles (Chuck) Boerner III and his wife, Becky; Gretchen Goertz and her husband, Samuel; Carl Boerner and his husband, Carlos; John D. Boerner and his wife, Debbie; James W. Boerner and his wife, Glenna; Mary E. Spencer and her husband, Chad, and Mark E. Boerner and his wife, Diane.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mrs. Norman Rech, 88, nee Genevieve Kaiser of Fredericksburg, died Thursday, June 18, 2015.

Arrangements are under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation will be held Sunday, June 21, from 4-7 p.m., and Monday, June 22, from 7-9:45 a.m.

A vigil service will be held at 6 p.m., Sunday, June 21, at the funeral chapel.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Monday, June 22, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with entombment following in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Loving Care, the St. Mary’s School Endowment Fund or to the charity of choice.

Norma E. Kneese, 91, nee Schlaudt, of Fredericksburg, died Thursday, June 18, 2015, at Windcrest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home where visitation will be held Sunday, June 21, from 4-7 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, June 22, in the chapel of Fredericksburg Funeral Home, with interment following at Der Stadt Friedhof.

Thomas J. Hutchins, 80, of Fredericksburg, died Wednesday, June 17, 2015.

A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m., Saturday, June 20, at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church.

Interment of his cremains will take place at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the Race Track Chaplaincy Retama Park, Hill Country Memorial Hospice, or The Good Samaritan Center.

NORMA E. KNEESE

Norma E. Kneese, 91, nee Schlaudt, of Fredericksburg, died Thursday, June 18, 2015, at Windcrest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Monday, June 22, in the chapel of Fredericksburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Ricky Leaphart officiating.

Interment followed at Der Stadt Friedhof.

Visitation was held Sunday evening, June 21, at the funeral chapel.

Mrs. Kneese was born Jan. 8, 1924, in Fredericksburg, the daughter of Edward Schlaudt and Edna Treibs Schlaudt. She married Wilbert Rufus Kneese on Nov. 1, 1941, at Zion Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death on Aug. 12, 1992.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Delton and Jennett Kneese of Fredericksburg, and Barney and Mary Kneese of Burnet.

Survivors also include two grandchildren, two step-grandsons, one great-grandchild, and three step-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Kneese is also survived by three sisters: Margaret Wilke and Mary Ann Reeh and her husband, Arthur Reeh Jr., all of Fredericksburg, and Bernice Klein of Kerrville.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Kneese was preceded in death by two brothers, Martin Schlaudt and Walter Schlaudt.

Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church of Burnet, Zion Lutheran Church or to the charity of choice.

Pallbearers included Russell Kneese, Roland Wilke, Linvill Crenwelge, Larry Kneese, Douglas Koennecke and Keith Klein.

MRS. WERNER W. KLEIN

Mrs. Werner W. Klein, 89, nee Esther Koennecke of Fredericksburg, died Friday, June 12, 2015.

A funeral mass was celebrated at 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 16, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Scott Janysek officiating. Mary Ann Murchison was the pianist, and Tricia Eilers, the vocalist.

Interment followed at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation and a vigil service were held Monday evening, June 15.

Mrs. Klein was born June 16, 1925, in the Rheingold community of Gillespie County, the daughter of Theodore Koennecke and Olga Auguste Mayer Koennecke. She married Werner Walter Klein on June 19, 1943, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on Oct. 3, 2013.

She is survived by three sons, two daughters and spouses, including Patrick and Kathy Klein, Curtis Klein and Nancy and Terry Robertson, all of Fredericksburg; Sandy and Scott Hofmann, of Cherry Spring and Harper, and Tim Klein, of Houston.

Survivors also include 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and two sisters-in-law, Estella, Mrs. Raymond Wuest, and Ruby, Mrs. Martin Koennecke, both of Fredericksburg.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Klein was preceded in death by a grandson, Eric James Klein, and two brothers, Theophil Koennecke and Martin Koennecke.

Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, Hill Country Memorial Hospital or to the charity of choice.

Pallbearers included Chris Klein, Travis Klein, Zack Klein, Steven Koennecke, Mark Koennecke, Glenn Koennecke and Brian Wright.

THOMAS J. HUTCHINS

Thomas J. Hutchins, 80, of Fredericksburg, died Wednesday, June 17, 2015.

A memorial service was held at 3:30 p.m., Saturday, June 20, at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church with the Rev. Jeff Hammond officiating.

Interment of the cremains is planned at a later date.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Hutchins was born Aug. 8, 1934, in Shields, Kansas, the son of Clarence Thomas Hutchins and Mary Sharp Hutchins. He married Lane Murphy on Jan. 3, 1981, in Montgomery, Alabama, and she survives.

In addition to his wife, Hutchins is survived by two daughters, one son and spouses, including Donald and Laurie Hutchins, of North Carolina, and Kimee and Gene Wilkens and Lisa and Gary Howard, all of Kansas.

Survivors also include seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; one sister, Carol Autin, and one brother, Eugene D. Hutchins, both of Kansas.

Hutchins was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Thomas J. Hutchins Jr., and one brother, Calvin T. Hutchins.

ALICE MAE GROBE

Alice Mae Grobe, 74, nee Mueller, of Fredericksburg, died Saturday, June 13, 2015.

Arrangements were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home where a memorial visitation was held from 1-4:30 p.m., Saturday, June 20.

Mrs. Grobe was born May 9, 1941, in Fredericksburg, the daughter of Albert Mueller and Edna Klein Mueller. She married Melvin (Buddy) Grobe on Sept. 26, 1959, in Fredericksburg and he survives.

For many years, she worked as a teller and bookkeeper at Security State Bank and Trust.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Grobe is survived by two daughters, three sons and spouses, including Karen and Dwayne Beyer, Kenneth Grobe, Barbara and Herbie Feller and Wade Grobe, all of Fredericksburg, and Bruce Grobe of Loyal Valley.

Survivors also include six grandchildren; two brothers, Wilbert Mueller and his wife, Barbara, of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Milton Mueller, San Antonio, and two sisters, Leona Coker, San Antonio, and Shirley Peterson and her husband, Dave, of Georgia, and a sister-in-law, Margaret Mueller, of Bulverde.

Mrs. Grobe was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Theodore Mueller and Leroy Mueller, and two sisters, Rosalee Mueller and Bessie Mueller.

Memorials may be made to Hill Country Memorial Hospice or to the charity of choice.

Honorary pallbearers included Wendy Beyer, Jodi Kasper, Emily Beyer, Tyler, Feller, Klay Feller and Kayla Feller.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home where visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, July 1.

Visitation will continue on Thursday, July 2, from 9-10 a.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church at Doss where the funeral will begin at 10 a.m.

Interment will follow at St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Hill Country Community Needs Council, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or to the charity of choice.

William James Morrell Jr.

William James Morrell Jr., 68, of Fredericksburg, died Friday, June 26, 2015, at a local nursing facility.

Arrangements and cremation were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Interment of the cremains at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio is planned at a later date.

Morrell was born Oct. 20, 1946, in Rockford, Illinois, the son of William K. Morrell Sr. and Holline Rose Crocker Morrell.

He was a United States Army veteran.

Survivors include two daughters, Ashley Dawn Kvistad of Baxter, Minnesota, and Jennifer Rose Decker, and six grandchildren.

Survivors also include two sisters, Holly Linda Spieker and Pamela Jane Winter.

Morrell’s parents preceded him in death.

LOU ELLA SIECKMANN

Lou Ella Sieckmann, 73, nee Gebauer, of Doss, died Saturday, June 27, 2015.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 2, at St. Peter Lutheran Church at Doss with the Rev. Mark A. Ward officiating. Shirley Keyser was the organist.

Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home where visitation was held Wednesday evening, July 1.

Mrs. Sieckmann was born Sept. 3, 1941, in Sprinkle, the daughter of John Gebauer and Marie Schwinge Gebauer. She married Carlton Sieckmann on Jan. 11, 1964, at St. John Lutheran Church in Austin and he survives.

For many years, she was a baker at the Cookie Jar.

She also spent many years serving on the altar guild, WELCA, and as a Sunday school and vacation Bible school teacher at St. Peter Lutheran Church.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Sieckmann is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Mitchell and Ginni Sieckmann of Doss, and a daughter, Brenda Sieckmann of Fredericksburg; five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Survivors also include a sister, Martha (Suzi) Wray of Pflugerville, and a brother and sister-in-law, John and Patricia Gebauer Jr. of Manor.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother-in-law, Robert Wray.

Memorials may be made to the Hill Country Community Needs Council, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or to the charity of choice.

Pallbearers included Kohl Sieckmann, Kiel Sieckmann, Keagan Sieckmann, Mitchell Sieckmann, Sidney Ellebracht and Gerald Fritz.

Mrs. Johnny Novian, 74, nee Karen Lee Beal of Fredericksburg, died Monday, June 29, 2015.

A memorial service was held today, Wednesday, July 8, at 11 a.m., at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Tommy Russell officiating.

Private interment of the cremains at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery is planned at a later date.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Mrs. Novian was born Jan. 5, 1941, in Carlyle, Kansas, the daughter of Miller Beal and Katie Smith Beal. She married Johnny Novian on Nov. 18, 1961, in Kerrville. He preceded her in death.

She is survived by two sons, one daughter and spouses, including David and Kathy Novian, Keith and Brenda Novian and Nona Calvo, all of Fredericksburg; nine grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by one brother, three sisters and spouses, including Miller and LaRue Beal of Gainesville; Betty Lackey, Center Point; JoEllen and Rusty Baker, Odessa, and Irene and Volley Tyler, Waller.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Novian was preceded in death by a grandson, Manual Snow, and a brother, Jerry Beal.

Alejandro (Hondo) Lozano Sr.

ALEJANDRO (HONDO) LOZANO

Alejandro (Hondo) Lozano Sr., 54, of Stonewall, died Wednesday, June 17, 2015, at Southwest Texas Methodist Hospital in San Antonio.

Services were held at 3:30 p.m., Saturday, June 20, in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home with Deacon Francisco de la Torre officiating.

Private disposition of his cremains is planned by the family at a later date.

Visitation was held that afternoon before the funeral.

Lozano was born April 11, 1961, in Stonewall, the son of Vicente Lozano and Isabel Munoz Lozano. He married Oralia Nieto on Dec. 29, 2012, in Stonewall, and she survives.

In addition to his wife, Lozano is survived by three daughters, two sons and spouses, including Alejandro and April Lozano Jr., Justin and Angela Lozano and Sabrina and Marc Smith, all of Stonewall; Sunshine Murphy, of Tennessee, and Soletta and Joshua Perez, Fredericksburg.

Survivors also include nine grandchildren and his mother, Isabel Munoz of Stonewall.

He is also survived by five sisters and five brothers, including Alicia Ramirez, Daniel Lozano and Vincente Lozano Jr., all of Stonewall; Mary Cedillo, Rubin Lozano, Lawrence Lozano and Janie Lozano, all of Fredericksburg; Puebla Vargas, Rosenberg; John Lozano, Kerrville, and Martina Munoz, San Antonio.

Lozano was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Henry Lozano.

Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.

LESTER LANSING KOTHMANN

Lester Lansing Kothmann, 65, of Mason, died Thursday, June 30, 2015.

A memorial service was held at 3 p.m., Sunday, July 5, at River of Life Church in Mason with Dave Benefield officiating.

Arrangements were under the direction of Mason Funeral Home.

Kothmann was born Jan. 28, 1950, in Fredericksburg, the son of Lansing Kothmann and Gerda Lehmann Kothmann. He married Cindy Goodman on May 15, 1976, and she survives.

A Mason High School graduate, Kothmann attended the University of Texas.

He was a design engineer for a telephone company in Temple for 24 years, and upon retirement, returned to Mason County to operate the family ranch.

In addition to his wife, Kothmann is survived by a son, Lee Lester Kothmann, and a daughter and son-in-law, Crystal and Thomas Kinney, and one sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Leon Thane of San Angelo.
