MRS. JAMES C. KLEIN

Mrs. James C. Klein, 100, nee Meta Mary Roeder, of San Antonio and formerly of Fredericksburg, died Monday, June 8, 2015.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 11, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Msgr. Enda McKenna officiating. Mary Ann Murchison was the pianist, and Annette Whittington, the vocalist.

Interment followed at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation was held Wednesday evening and Thursday morning.

A vigil service was held Wednesday evening in the funeral chapel.

Mrs. Klein was born March 11, 1915, in Gillespie County, the daughter of Charles Roeder and Hilda Jenke Roeder. She married James C. Klein on April 3, 1937, in San Antonio. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. Klein is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, including Jocelyn and Victor Eckhardt of Fredericksburg; and Virginia and Bill Bernhard Sr. and Carol and Francisco Orozco, all of San Antonio.

Survivors also include nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by a sister, Rita, Mrs. Reuben Koenig, and a brother-in-law, George Nebgen, both of Fredericksburg.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Klein was preceded in death by a son, James Charles Klein, and a sister, Norma Nebgen.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or to the charity of choice.
