
ELGIN GRONA
Elgin Edwin Grona, 90, of Fredericksburg died Monday, Aug. 3, 2015.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Aug. 5, in the chapel of Fredericksburg Funeral Home with the Rev. David Priem officiating. Graveside services followed in Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation was held Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning.
Grona was born June 2, 1925, in Fredericksburg, the son of Edwin Grona and Meta Meyer Grona. He married Mildred Kordzik on Aug. 7, 1948, and she survives.
He served in the United States Army in Europe during World War II. Grona retired as a maintenance supervisor with the Texas Highway Department.
In addition to his wife, Grona is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Sharon Grona of Fredericksburg; a daughter-in-law, Carol Eardley of Kingsbury; three grandchildren; one step-grandchild; seven great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren, and one step-great-great-grandchild.
He is also survived by a brother and his wife, Chester and Cora Grona of Fredericksburg.
Grona was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Larry Grona; a brother, Marvin Grona, and a sister, Lillian Moellering.
Memorials may be made to Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, Hill Country Memorial Hospice or the charity of choice.
Pallbearers were Clayton Grona, Douglas Grona, Bryan Moellering, Chance Grona, Bryce Erwin and Kenneth Meyer.
