CLYDE THOMAS (TOM) GANT

Clyde Thomas (Tom) Gant, 79, of Fredericksburg, died Thursday, July 30, 2015, at Knopp Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 4, at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church with the Rev. David Priem officiating.

Interment followed at Der Stadt Friedhof.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation was held Monday evening and Tuesday morning.

Gant was born March 22, 1936, in Luling, the son of John Thomas Gant and Lou Ella Scruggs Gant. He married Darlene Olinda Klein on March 12, 1955, at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church. She preceded him in death on April 29, 2014.

Gant was retired from the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) where he worked for over 40 years.

He was a member of the Tivydale Shooting Club. In 2004, he was crowned rimfire king at the Gillespie County Schuetzenfest, and was also the top five overall marksman.

Gant is survived by three daughters, one son and spouses, including Yvonne and John Fox, and Gay and Walter Walls Jr., all of Fredericksburg; Ricky and Carla Gant of Kerrville, and Glenda and Raymond Mott of Eagle River, Alaska.

Survivors also include eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and a sister-in-law, Gloria Beckmann of Fredericksburg.

In addition to his wife and parents, Gant was preceded in death by a still-born daughter and a brother-in-law, Edgar Klein Jr.

Memorials may be made to Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, Hill Country Memorial Hospital or to the charity of choice.

Pallbearers were fellow TxDOT employees Keith Schneider, Steve Kothe, Doyle Moellering, Dennis Segner, Dennis Behrends, Lonnie Hohmann, Will Weidenfeller and Danny Crenwelge.

Honorary pallbearers were members of the Tivydale Shooting Club.
