Joy Hitzfeld Golden

Joy Hitzfeld Golden, 90, of Del Norte, Colorado, died Sunday, Aug. 9, 2015.

A family memorial will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Golden was born May 17, 1925, in Fredericksburg, the daughter of Henry and Meltonie Hitzfeld. She married Oscar Golden in 1946, and he survives.

She was a 1942 Fredericksburg High School graduate.

After her children started school, she entered college and received her teaching and master’s degrees and taught in Hereford for 10 years.

After moving to Del Norte, Colorado, in 1974, Mrs. Golden taught in the elementary school for 13 years before retiring. She was recognized for her many years of active support of the library.

Prior to marriage, she worked at Fredericksburg Publishing Co., Inc.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Golden is survived by two sons, one daughter and spouses, including Gordon and Mary Golden, Mark and Judy Golden and Katie and Tom Baker; eight grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
