Guadalupe Cedillo, 81, of Fredericksburg, died Wednesday, July 31, 2013.

Graveside services and interment were held Monday, Aug. 5, at 10 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation was held prior to the service at Greenwood Cemetery.

Ms. Cedillo was born April 7, 1932, in Hebbronville to Jose and Clara Vela Cedillo.

Survivors include one brother and sister-in-law and two sisters: Alex and Nuevemi Cedillo of Fredericksburg, Mary Mirelez and Rosalinda Sanchez.

Memorials may be made to the charity of choice.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Chrysa Kay Wagenfehr Bratz

CHRYSA KAY WAGENFEHR BRATZ

Chrysa Kay Wagenfehr Bratz, 45, of LaVernia, died Friday, July 26, 2013, in San Antonio.

Funeral services were held July 31 at 10 a.m. in St. Ann’s Catholic Church in LaVernia with the Rev. Stanislaw Fiuk and Rev. Norman Ermis of St. Margaret Mary’s Church officiating. A rosary service was held on July 30 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church.

Interment followed in the Concrete Cemetery in LaVernia.

Mrs. Bratz was born Oct. 27, 1967, in San Antonio, the daughter of John G. Wagenfehr Jr. and Adeline Viola Weber Wagenfehr. She married Stephen E. Bratz on Oct. 13, 1990, in St. Margaret Mary’s Church in San Antonio, and he survives.

She graduated from Highlands High School and earned a bachelor of business administration degree in accounting from St. Mary’s University and a nursing certification through the Baptist School of Nursing.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is survived by the following children, Stephen Bratz Jr., Kaylin Bratz and Ty Bratz, all of LaVernia; a step-daughter and her husband, Stephanie and Robby Moore of Austin, and two grandchildren.

Other survivors include brothers and sisters and their spouses, Lori Crabb of San Antonio; Cindy and Joseph Ledwig of China Grove; Dona and Charles Kappmeyer of La Vernia, and John Wagenfehr III of LaVernia.

She was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Bratz, and her grandparents, Arthur and Adeline Schlaudt Weber and John and Margaret Wagenfehr Sr.

Pallbearers were Stephen Bratz Jr., Ty Bratz, John Wagenfehr III, Cody Wagenfehr, Robby Moore, Ryland Crabb, John Crabb, Charles Kappmeyer Jr., Charles Kappmeyer III, Joseph Ledwig, Dustin Ledwig, Richard Bratz, Alvin Bratz and John Tucker.

Arrangements were under the direction of Franklin Funeral Home in Floresville.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 23, at 10 a.m., at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home in Austin, with interment following at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park.

BRIAN DOUGLAS VICKERS

Brian Douglas Vickers, 41, of Doss, died Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013.

A memorial service was held Saturday, Aug. 10, at 10 a.m. at the Country Inn Cottages Convention Center on Lower Crabapple Road.

A memorial service in Orlando, Fla., was held Saturday, Aug. 17.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Vickers was born Aug. 24, 1971, in Orlando, Fla., the son of Charles W. Vickers and Frieda Turner Vickers.

He moved to the Texas Hill Country three years ago and was employed as the ranch manager at the White Ghost Ranch at Doss.

Survivors include his wife, Holley Cenate Vickers of Doss; two sons, Cody Vickers and Tristan Vickers; one step-son, Anthony Redmon, and two step-daughters, Donna Jones and Jessica Jones.

He is also survived by two brothers, Brett Vickers and Chuck Vickers, and one sister, Pam Vickers.

Vickers was preceded in death by his parents.

A funeral mass was celebrated Friday, Aug. 16, at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Stonewall.

Lester A. Grosenbacher

LESTER A. GROSENBACHER

Lester A. Grosenbacher, 88, of Comfort, died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2013, at Trinity Mission Health and Rehab Center.

Funeral services were held Friday, Aug. 16, at 1 p.m. at Schaetter Funeral Home in Comfort with the Rev. Keith Shelley officiating.

Interment followed in the Comfort Cemetery.

Visitation was held Thursday evening, Aug. 15, at the funeral home.

Grosenbacher was born Jan. 8, 1925, in the Crabapple community of Gillespie County, the son of Ernst Grosenbacher Sr. and Ella Kast Grosenbacher. He married Lucile Spenrath on June 25, 1950, in Comfort. She preceded him in death.

A United States Navy veteran, Grosenbacher served during World War II as a gunner aboard the USS George F. Elliot, USS Tuscaloosa and the USS Mary E. Kinney.

He operated the Sinclair Service Station in Comfort from 1950-1964, and owned an auto parts store for 25 years.

During his active years and retirement, he enjoyed riding horses and roped and attended many rodeos.

Survivors include a daughter, Nadene Alford of Comfort; a sister, Evelyn Lucksinger of Fredericksburg; a brother and sister-in-law, Marvin and Carolyn Grosenbacher of Center Point, and a sister-in-law, Irene, Mrs. Red Grosenbacher.

In addition to his wife and parents, Grosenbacher was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Brad Alford; two brothers, Ernst (Red) Grosenbacher Jr. and Orval Grosenbacher, and a sister, Opal Thorp.

Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Comfort Volunteer Fire Department or to the charity of choice.

Pallbearers included Garet Grosenbacher, Gavin Grosenbacher, Dempsy Grosenbacher, Jon Pankratz, Colton Thomas, Dee Dee Faltin and Will Brown.

Honorary pallbearers were ropers that had roped with him throughout the years.

Mrs. Teofilo Cantu, 85, nee Dr. Beatrice Martinez of Fredericksburg, died Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013, at Knopp Assisted Living Center.

Visitation will be held Friday, Aug. 23, from 4-6 p.m., and Saturday, Aug. 24, from 7-10 a.m., in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home where the funeral will begin at 10 a.m.

Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.

MRS. HOLLY E. ROBERTS JR.

Mrs. Holly E. Roberts Jr., 79, nee Marie Parra of Stonewall, died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2013.

A funeral mass was celebrated Friday, Aug. 16, at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Stonewall with the Rev. Jim Harnan officiating. DeAnn Hampton was the organist and Lottie Demel, the vocalist.

Visitation was held at the church before the funeral.

Interment of the cremains is planned at a later date.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Mrs. Roberts was born Feb. 10, 1934, the daughter of Frederico and Cietilde Parra. She married Holly Edward Roberts Jr. on Jan. 26, 1957, in El Paso and he survives.

She attended the Loretto Academy Private Roman Catholic School for girls and then was employed by Young Finance as a finance clerk in her early years.

In 1967, the Roberts family moved to Anthony, where they operated Andrews Auto Parts for over 20 years.

During this time, she taught catechism at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.

She also served as mayor pro-term and on the city council for many years.

 Mrs. Roberts volunteered at Las Palmas Medical Center, was in the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority for more than 30 years, and was a quilter with the Methodist church in Anthony for 15 years.

In 2006, Mrs. Roberts and her husband moved to Stonewall.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Roberts is survived by two daughters, one son and spouses, including Sue and Paul Johnson of Santa Anna; Debi and Mark Schumann of Stonewall, and Eddie and Guillermina Roberts of Chandler, Ariz.

She is also survived by eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two sisters, Malicha Salazar of El Paso and Matela Ugarte of Indiana.

Memorials may be made to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Hill Country Memorial Hospice or to the charity of choice.

Edmond S. Murphy, 93, of Fredericksburg, died Monday, Aug. 12, 2013.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, Aug. 29, at 10 a.m. at Memorial Presbyterian Church.

Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Murphy was born Dec. 5, 1919, in Fall River, Mass., the son of Edward James Murphy and Harriet Slade Murphy.

Murphy went to work for Pan American Airlines, and later, when World War II began and Pan-Am turned their planes into military planes, he joined the U.S. Army Air Corps.

He had no immediate survivors.

Memorials may be made to Memorial Presbyterian Church or the charity of choice.

Lewis M. Moreno, 89, of Fredericksburg, died Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013.

Arrangements and cremation were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home. Private services are planned.

Moreno was born Dec. 24, 1923, in Ludington, La., the son of Sam Moreno and Rose Mercica Moreno. He married Lenora Neely who preceded him in death.

A retired building contractor, Moreno is survived by three sons and spouses, including John and Debbie Moreno of Sulphur, LA; Steve and Elaine Moreno of Lake Jackson and Sim and Kara Moreno of Johnson City.

Survivors also include six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by one sister, Mary Moreno of Sulphur, La., and two brothers, Willie Moreno and his wife, Patsy, of Lake Charles, La., and Ike Moreno of Tucson, Ariz.

In addition to his parents and wife, Moreno was preceded in death by five siblings, including Irene Smith, Arthur Moreno, Fred Moreno, Vick Moreno and Nora Hanson.

Kenneth Edward Locklin, 64, of Fredericksburg, died Monday, Aug. 19, 2013.

Funeral services were held Friday, Aug. 23, at 10 a.m. in the chapel at Fredericksburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Giller officiating.

Interment was held Friday afternoon at Forest Oaks Memorial Park in Austin.

Locklin was born Oct. 21, 1948, in Midland County, the son of Kelso Locklin and Louise Grote Locklin.

He was an investor.

Survivors include his mother, Louise Grote Whetstone of Fredericksburg, and sister, Linda Ham of San Marcos.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Connie Beth Harris, 52, nee Schmidt, of Bulverde, died Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013.

Mrs. Harris was born Jan. 25, 1961, in Kerrville, the daughter of Chester Schmidt and Sarah Beth Maier Schmidt. She married Mike Harris on May 5, 1990, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Comfort, and he survives.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Harris is survived by four sisters, one brother and spouses, including Linda and Larry Allerkamp and Bonnie and Larry Cruz, all of Comfort; Clarence and Mary Schmidt of Center Point; Carol and Pete Bryant of Canyon Lake, and Janice and Robert Crenwelge of Lago Vista.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Jimmy Schmidt.
